Over the last 12 years BRIDGES has organized more than 1000 trainings for agricultural producers
What opportunities exist in the future for building and construction? Owning a home and even renting are no longer affordable. Is this opportunity? Moreover, we construct buildings almost the way we did a hundred years ago. Yes, we began using insulation, improved materials, and so forth. Construction has become expensive and carbon intensive. Can we build a completely different way? What opportunities lie for innovators and entrepreneurs?
LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, introduced the Platinum certification in 2003 to a resounding success. Now, almost 4,000 buildings are LEED Platinum Certified. LEED has become the international standard for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance structures. Now, LEED Platinum version 4 is designed to up the ante with a more flexible, performance-based approach that calls for measurable results throughout a building’s life cycle. But is this enough?
This panel provides insight as to what barriers exist to innovation in architecture and building design, how to overcome them, and where are the future opportunities for entrepreneurs in the construction space?
